Paint correction, ceramic coating and film for your Tesla

Tesla paint and glass see the same road damage and sun as any other car. We work on Teslas at both of our shops, and paint correction, ceramic coating, paint protection film and ceramic window tint are the four services owners ask about most. Here is what each one does for a Tesla and how they work together.

Paint correction

Paint correction removes swirl marks, light scratches and oxidation from the paint. It also gives a coating or film a clean surface to start from. We sell it together with a ceramic coating.

A new Tesla can arrive with light marks from transport and handling, and a car that has been washed at automatic car washes picks up swirls. Correcting first means the coating or film locks in good paint, and the car looks its best afterward. Correction removes what sits in the clear coat. A scratch deeper than that needs a different repair, and we point those out before we start.

Ceramic coating

A Gyeon ceramic coating bonds to the paint and adds gloss. It helps the car resist UV, bird droppings, tree sap and road grime, and dirt does not hold on to it as easily, so washing takes less effort.

That matters on a daily driven Tesla that gets washed often. A slick surface needs less rubbing in the wash, which means fewer new swirls. Coatings can also go on the wheels and the glass, and over paint protection film, so the whole car can share one finish.

Paint protection film

LLumar self-healing film goes on the areas that take the most hits, like the front bumper, hood, fenders and mirrors. It stops stone chips and light scratches at the film, so the paint underneath is never touched. Light swirls in the film close up with warmth from the sun.

Owners who spend a lot of time on the highway usually start with a front package.

  • Basic Front covers the front bumper, full hood, mirrors, headlights and fog lights.
  • Full Front adds the full front fenders.
  • Full Front Plus adds the A-pillars, the roof edge over the windshield and the rocker panels.
  • Full Body covers every painted panel.

Matte film is available at both shops, for owners who want a satin look on a gloss Tesla.

Ceramic window tint

LLumar ceramic tint rejects heat and UV, which keeps a glass heavy car more comfortable in summer. It also adds privacy. A Tesla has a lot of glass compared to many cars, so the cabin sees more sun, and tint changes how that feels on a hot day.

Ceramic film does not use metal in its construction, so it does not get in the way of phone, GPS or radio signals. We install it in shades from 70 down to 5 percent, and we help you choose one for how you drive and what you want from the car.

Putting the four together

The services each have a job.

  • Correction makes the paint right.
  • Film protects the front of the car from chips.
  • The coating adds gloss and makes washing easier across the whole car.
  • Tint keeps the cabin cooler and more private.

Doing them in one visit means the car comes in once, and the order is controlled. Film and coating bond to the paint, so the paint gets corrected and cleaned first. Tint is cut to each window and goes in at the end. Film, coating and tint together make up The Beyond Package.

Tesla work at Buff & Beyond

Our full-time crew does every part of the work in house, in climate-controlled bays, at our Millstone and Ocean Township shops. We have been in Millstone since 2008. The film carries a manufacturer backed warranty, and we are a Gyeon Certified Detailer.

Tell us which services you want and we will build a plan around your Tesla. If you are not sure where to start, a front end film package is the usual first step, with coating and tint added after.

Questions about Tesla paint protection

Which service should a Tesla owner do first?

Most owners start with film on the front of the car, since stone chips are the damage that is hardest to fix. A coating and tint can follow in the same visit or later.

Can you coat a Tesla over paint protection film?

Yes. The coating goes over the film and the paint together.

Do you need paint correction on a new Tesla?

Often some. We inspect the paint first and polish what needs it.
